Lithuanian winger signs on at Fir Park

- By ANDY NEWPORT

Motherwell have signed Lithuania forward Deimantas Petravicius on a deal until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has seven caps for his country but has been left out of Edgaras Jankauskas’ squad for next month’s World Cup qualifier with Scotland.

But Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson hopes the former Nottingham Forest wideman will provide his side with some added quality this term. Petravicius came through the youth ranks at Forest but left England last summer to join Polish outfit Zaglebie Lubin. He has now returned to the UK after impressing Robinson on trial.

Robinson said: “Deimantas has been with us and played in a couple of bounce matches at Dalziel Park. He is completely different to what we have at the top end of the pitch in that he’s extremely quick, so we have a different dimension.”
