It is good that we hear about Dr Ella Pringle, first female member of the Royal College of Physicians (Scotsman 200, 23 August). Clearly she was a remarkable woman doctor.

I hope we will also hear more about Dr Elsie Inglis, also a pioneering woman doctor, who died in November 1917. We should celebrate the centenary of her death. We need
