Stirling aim to outdo the big spenders

- BY CRAIG P STEWART

As leaders Stirling Albion go to big-spending Peterhead this afternoon, manager Dave Mackay says his men can win at Balmoor.

“Based on the way we are playing and the confidence in our group, this is a winnable game,” said Mackay. “We do not need to be fearful.”

Blue Toon manager Jim Mcinally said: “Stirling are the biggest club in our league in terms of infrastructure and support so they should be looking to win and stay top.”

Annan will look to build on their 5-1 success at Berwick by defeating second-placed Montrose at Galabank. Said manager Peter Murphy: “We had five different goalscorers in that game and that was the most pleasing thing.”

Cowdenbeath host managerless Berwick Rangers and Blue Brazil boss Billy Brown, pictured, is struggling to understand why the Borderers have parted company with manager John Coughlin. “If John was good enough to start the season, he is good enough to get more than three games,” insisted Brown.

Elgin visit Ainslie Park, where they have won more often than Edinburgh City this season. Manager Jim Weir said: “We had a good result there recently against Hibs under-20s in the Irnbru Cup. Hopefully we can make it two from two.”

Stenhousemuir, fresh from a 3-1 victory over Peterhead, head to Clyde on league duty for the first time in more than seven years.
