Young expects to see a passionate Fife derby
As the Fife derby between East Fife and Raith Rovers resumes at Bayview this afternoon after a break lasting more than eight years, the hosts’ manager Darren Young predicts an exciting contest.
He said: “I played in a good number of Fife derbies as a player at Dunfermline and I expect this one to be as passionate.” Raith manager Barry Smith said: “East Fife had a very good win at Arbroath last weekend so we need to play well to get anything.”
As early pace-setters Ayr United welcome Arbroath, manager Ian Mccall said: “It is never easy against one of Dick Campbell’s teams, especially one that has loads of attacking options.” Looking for a first win in four games, Campbell said: “Some players are in for a shock as they have not been working hard enough and will be watching this one.”
Airdrie start life without coach Willie Aitchison against Alloa. Wasps manager Jim Goodwin said: “Regardless of the coaching and manage- rial jobs there, you have to treat their squad with full respect.”
After being ejected from the Irn Bru Cup for fielding an ineligible player, Albion Rovers look for consolation by winning at Forfar. Said manager Brian Kerr: “We have to turn a huge negative into a positive.”
As Queen’s Park host Stranraer, their head coach Gus Macpherson said: “We were unlucky to go down to a late goal at Alloa last weekend but we saw enough to show that better results are not far away.”
