In direct competition with Strike, Jenna Coleman returns as the young Queen Victoria in the second series of STV’S successful period drama based on the life and reign of the monarch.

Tom Hughes is also back as Prince Albert, as the couple face new challenges both at home and abroad.

Resuming one month after the first series ended, the eight-part new season establishes Victoria as a working mother, learning to balance her responsibilities as both parent and queen. However, Prince Albert is still struggling to find a role for himself alongside his powerful wife and decides not to trouble her with worrying news regarding British soldiers in Afghanistan. However, as the reports worsen, Victoria grows increasingly suspicious that he and Prime Minister Robert Peel, played by Nigel Lindsay, are hiding something from her.
