At the Edinburgh Television Festival it was announced that the National Film and Television School will set up a base in Scotland, in partnership with BBC Scotland.
@Nicolasturgeon posted: “This is great news for our film and TV sector. Delighted that @scotgov is able to support it.”
@Kidcairo shared: “Bit of a kick in the teeth for the existing industry-supported film & tv provision already in Scotland, isn’t it?”
@Tensacrowd said: “In partnership with BBC Scotland? Seriously? I mean seriously? Why are the SNP oblivious to propaganda coming from BBC Scotland?”
@frank_kerr railed: “Can we make sure that critical thinking is included in any syllabus? The media appears to have a problem in separating truth from propaganda.”
#TAYLORSWIFT
The US singer released Look What You Made Me Do, the first single from her sixth album, Reputation, which comes out in November. The song was met with a number of negative responses.
@pattymo wrote: “Spare a thought for the Taylor Swift superfans that have to defiantly pretend this new song is amazing.”
@Louispeitzman added: “As someone prone to extreme secondhand embarrassment, I’m finding this new Taylor Swift era to be nearly unbearable.”
@Chuckwendig went on: “Anyway, if someone could just tell me if we hate Taylor Swift this week or love her, I’d appreciate it.”
@twcuddleston offered “I’m not saying I don’t like the new Taylor Swift song but it does remind me of when Ross played the keyboard in Friends.”
#WEIRDKIDSTV SHOWTHEORIES
Having suffered through too many episodes of Peppa Pig and the like, parents shared their odd ideas.
@anandamide offered: “I’m fairly sure Night Garden is just Iggle Piggle’s desperate, starving fever dream as he drifts alone on the open sea with dwindling rations”
@Jennjennstar observed: “There’s an awful lot of single mums in Postman Pat whose kids have ginger hair just like Pat’s...”
@dublinbermia tweeted: “Not quite the same but I have railed about Bob the Builder and his exploitation of his workers to my small kids on many an occasion.”
