COMEDY Ethnic Cleansing Laughing Horse @ The Golf Tavern (Venue 114) JJ

This strange show lasted little more than half an hour. Ruven Govendar is Indian, via South Africa and New Zealand. He seems completely distracted and spends at least ten minutes asking us where we are all from. And what we do. Sometimes more than once. He gives a lady in the second row a “Race Card” which is neither set up nor exploited. He mentions in quick succession being pigeonholed for sports at school, curry sandwiches, his uber-indian parents and turbulence while flying. I have no idea what the show is meant to be doing. He seems genuinely taken aback that the audience, with one exception, is entirely white. There is potential here, and a superb Harry Potter funny. Maybe I saw a really bad day.
