Warning of lagoon swimming dangers
Police have issued a warning about swimming in open water after they recovered the body of a man who drowned when he got into difficulties in a lagoon. Emergency services were called to Horbury Lagoon in Wakefield on Saturday and the body of a 32-yearold man, who lived in Leeds, was later discovered.
Police said he had disappeared while swimming, and warned “of extreme dangers posed by swimming in or entering open water at lagoons or industrial sites”.
