Repeat performanc­e may bring a shock says Mccall

Ayr United host Montrose in a second- round Irn- Bru Cup tie that was moved to this evening due to the Scottish Inter national Airshow taking place at nearby Low Green this weekend, writes Craig Stewart.

Ayr look to get flying again after Forfar inflicted their first league defeatof the season and manager Ian Mccall has warned his players they need to be at the top of their game.

He said :“Montrose have done really well under Stewart Petrie and I am sure they will view coming here as a chance to create a shock.

“If we play like we did on Saturday it could happen, so we have to up things. We did not look hungry and more than half the team did not get pass marks. I am not going to make wholesale changes as the same group of players had given us an exciting start to the season but we simply have to play better then we did on Saturday.”

Jamie Adams remains out with a fractured cheekbone.

Mont rose manager Petrie has told his players to concentrat­e only on what they can do after a 1-0 win at Ann an put them in second place in League 2.

He said: “We cannot get too deep into what Ayr might do. First and foremost we have to play as well as we can. If we do I’ll be delighted.”

Montrose miss the injured Micha elBolochow­e ckyj, MartynF other ingham, Danny Ca van agh,Ry an Ferguson, Terry Mass on and Gary Fraser.
