St Johnstone Revise the system

New signing Denny Johnstone fits Tommy Wright’s approach to identifying potential signings. Young players who moved south to start their careers or transferred young to an English club able to pay those who become dispensable.

The system of paying development fees works against nearly all Scottish clubs who do not have the finances to pay transfer fees. The system needs to work for Scottish clubs and more importantly young players. Perhaps providing a condition in transfers between Scottish clubs that the development fee due at the time be paid from any future transfer fee or state the percentage of the fee payable. Better still, the SFA pays development costs and takes real responsibility for the development of young players.
