Horse kit worth £10k stolen from stables

Thieves have stolen more than £10,000 worth of equestrian equipment in a “brazen theft” at a stables in the Borders.

They drove away in a Leyland DAF horse transporter they also stole, but abandoned it in a nearby field after losing control.

The thieves stole equipment including saddles, horse tack, rugs, hats and other items stored in the tack room at Kaimeknowe Stables in Kelso in the Borders.

Police are appealing for information about the break-in which took place between 10pm on Tuesday and 4am on Wednesday.
