Students get a boost with thumping win
Edinburgh University finished on a high note in their own tournament at Peffermill yesterday with a comfortable 5-2 win over English side Loughborough in their final match before the start of the league campaign next week.
Goals by Alan Oldham, Simon Blaschke, Davyn Keuter, George Adams and Ruaraidh Campbell gave the students a comfortable win.
Grove Menzieshill were also in winning form at Peffermill. The Taysiders crushed Watsonians 4-0 with the goals coming from Albert Rowling, Ollie James, Gavin Byers and Guy Rowson. Menzieshill were the only unbeaten side in the tournament. Earlier they saw off the Edinburgh students 2-1.
In the women’s event, the host side thumped Grange 6-0 but had earlier suffered a shock 1-0 defeat by Watsonians.
They recovered to crush English side Whitley Bay 9-2.
