Thismorningiheardagovernment minister, yet again, hurl the million pound figure about as a “cure” for the decline of coastal towns. The talk is carefully masked by spreading the amount over five years and the whole country. Years ago on taking up a post in the East End of Glasgow, my remit was “to improve the quality of life” and my appraisal was “what have you done?” and “who can I speak to in order to prove it?”!
