Checks for youth football coaches
Youth football coaches will require background checks before they are allowed to work with children, the Scottish Youth Football Association (SYFA) has announced.
The SYFA told Holyrood’s health and sport committee that it had already begun overhauling its vetting processes. As of last month, volunteers are granted provisional membership once they have begun the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) process of checks, allowing them to work with children under the supervision of a PVG holder.
