Five Scottish universities in top 200 of global best

Five Scottish universities have been ranked among the top 200 institutions in the world.

Edinburgh University maintains 27th place in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018, though this year shares the position with New York and Peking universities.

Glasgow University has risen from 88th last year to 80 this year, sharing the spot with Monash University in Australia.

The universities of St Andrews, Aberdeen and Dundee are also in the top 200. Seven other Scottish universities appear in the complete list of 1,000, which represents the top 5 per cent of universities in the world.

They are the universities of Stirling, Heriot-watt, Strathclyde, West of Scotland, Edinburgh Napier, Glasgow Caledonian and Robert Gordon University.
