First Minister Nicola Sturgeon unveiled 16 bills her Government will implement over the next parliamentary term at Holyrood. Among the eyecatching announcements was the ending of the public sector pay cap, and the phasing out of petrol and diesel cars within 15 years. @Stephenpaton134 wrote: “I see many of the opposition MSPS are reading the scripts they wrote before the Programme for Government was revealed.” @Nairnmcd commented: “Seems that the First Minister and the SNP have had a flick through Labour’s manifesto and decided to take a few ideas and try to pass them off as theirs.” @Anastosios_vou tweeted: “Such a bold, ambitious and impressive programme from @Scotgov, just think what Scotland could achieve with independence.”

The Trump Administration announced the end of an Obama era directive which allows illegal immigrants brought to the US as infants to avoid being targeted by law enforcement. As many as several hundred thousands of these so-called ‘Dreamers’ could be deported. @Thecartelmatt argued: “The Left today will tell you we are a land of immigrants. What they are not telling you is that we are a land of legal immigrants.” @Papercraness added: “My heart is broken. Taking away #DACA affects the people closest to me. The most hardworking people I know... they don’t deserve this.” @Raymondbraun posted: “An estimated 75,000 Dreamers are LGBTQ. Under the DACA repeal, many will be deported to countries with atrocious human rights records.”

Scotland kept alive their slim hopes of qualifying for the tournament in Russia next year after a workmanlike win over Malta. @Stvstheworld tweeted: “It’s not going to happen, but imagine the scenes if Scotland somehow, SOMEHOW, qualify for the World Cup. It’s not going to happen though.” @Mrroddygraham joked: “Be absolutely typical if Scotland qualify for the World Cup only for it to be cancelled due to a nuclear war taking place.”
