The cost of an average basket of groceries has continued to rise and is more than £2 more expensive than at the start of the year, a monthly tracker shows. A basket of 35 popular items now costs £84.40, up 5p on July’s figure, largely due to “unstable” fruit and vegetables costs, mysupermarket said.
