HONDA CR-V GETS HYBRID, LOSES DIESEL
Honda has announced that its CR-V SUV is to be offered with hybrid technology for the first time in Europe.
Ahead of its official unveiling at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show, Honda has revealed images and details of the 2018 model and announced that it will not be available with a diesel engine.
At the heart of the hybrid is a 2.0-litre petrol engine and electric propulsion motor linked to a single fixed-gear transmission.
The I-MMD (Intelligent Multi-mode Drive) system automatically switches between electriconly, petrol-only and combined drive modes depending on requirements.
Honda says power and economy figures for the CR-V Hybrid will be announced early next year ahead of its official launch.
As well as the hybrid, the CR-V will be available with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and six-speed manual or CVT transmissions.
The new C-RV is wider, taller and longer than the outgoing model and features sharper body lines, bigger wheels and the latest Honda corporate face.
