Star ratings

As The Scotsman reported on 7 September, BBC stars such as Fiona Bruce, Clare Balding and Mishal Husain sorted out their pay problems during a nice lunch with the Director-general Lord Hall and the Deputy D-G Ms Anne Bulford. How civilised, never mind that the appearance of at least some of these ‘’top stars’’ on the screen makes me reach rather quickly for the switch-off button. And, apart from that, how about lowering the obscene sums paid to male ‘’star’’ presenters rather than inflating the sums paid to their female counterparts? We are supposed to be living in the frugal stage of the economy just the noo.
