Adam and Eve
They were among the most talkedabout shows on this year’s Edinburgh Fringe; and now, the National Theatre of Scotland’s twin shows about transgender lives move on to Glasgow. Adam, directed by Cora Bissett, is the powerful, spectacular story of Adam Kashmiry, above right, a young Egyptian born a girl, who had to flee his country to begin his transition to a new life; Jo Clifford’s Eve, above left, is a more meditative solo reflection on the rebirth that followed a long life lived as a man. Together, they make an unforgettable testament to human courage, and the possibility of change; spellbinding, life-affirming, and ultimately joyful.
