British pair Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett are into the final of the US Open men’s wheelchair doubles after beating Gustavo Fernandez and Shingo Kunieda. The second seeds beat the Argentine-japanese pair 6-3, 6-2 in their semifinal on Arthur Ashe Stadium – the first time that wheelchair tennis has been played on the famous court. Hewett, aged 19 and from Norwich, and 25-year-old Reid, pictured, who is from West Dunbartons­hire, will now face French top seeds Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer in this weekend’s final.
