Rose may be first woman to run RBS

0 Alison Rose runs commercial and private banking Royal Bank of Scotland could appoint its first female chief executive over the next year, it was reported at the weekend.

Alison Rose, who runs RBS’S commercial and private banking, is said to be one of the strongest internal candidates to replace group chief executive Ross Mcewan if specula- tion that the New Zealander is being considered for the top job at Commonweal­th Bank of Australia (CBA) leads to his departure. Another is believed to be RBS chief financial officer, Ewen Stevenson.

Mcewan, who took the helm in 2013, has not announced any plans to leave, and has indicated he wanted to see the recovery job through at the bank.
