Australian leaders back gay marriage
Australian political leaders, including Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, have come out in support of a campaign for same-sex marriage. The largest gay rights rally in Australian history was held in Sydney yesterday, where more than 20,000 people gathered to urge the legalisation of same-sex marriage, days ahead of a contentious postal survey on the issue that has divided the country.
The Prime Minister previously said he would vote in favour of samesex marriage, but has not publicly campaigned prior to a surprise speech at the rally yesterday.
