Benedictus breaks his leg

League 1 leaders Raith Rovers suffered a major injury blow when tests confirmed their captain Kyle Benedictus had broken his leg in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Ayr United and will be out for up to eight weeks.

The defender was substitute­d after 17 minutes and immediatel­y taken to Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital, where a break to his right fibula was discovered.

Stark’s Park manager Barry Smith said: “He has been an ever-present for me this season so I am hoping for a speedy recovery.”
