Methods will bring the right results

ly as the games go on, you do feel it a little bit. But we believe in what we are trying to achieve here and we believe the results will come.

“Take out the Rangers game, if you look at performances overall it’s little things here and there, individual mistakes or not taking a chance at the right moment. But we’re not far away at all.”

Mccann, pictured, was a big favourite with the Dundee fans during his playing days and Bain hopes they remain patient. “I hope that they can see past the results and see the improvement,” he said. “I know football is impatient but we are working on something here that everyone has bought into.” St Johnstone striker Steven Maclean expects Dundee to exhibit all of the fighting qualities of Mccann, who was a mentor of the young Maclean when the pair played together for Rangers. Dundee skipper Darren O’dea recently described his boss as the most competitive person he had met and the words rang true with Maclean. “I heard someone else say he was an angry wee man as well, but I’ll let them say that,” Maclean joked. “But, no, he is very competitive. He’s a winner.”

Maclean, whoseteamhave lost on their last three trips to Dens Park, added: “With it being a derby, it will be really competitive anyway but I’m sure Neily’s team will be bang up for it and they will be desperate for the points as well.

“We have not had a great record there in the last couple of games so it’s about time we went there and put on a good show.”
