New favourite Kipre sings praises of the serenading Well fans

- By ANGUS WRIGHT

Defender Cedric Kipre loves being serenaded by the Motherwell fans after becoming an instant favourite at Fir Park.

The 20-year-old Frenchman, who came though the youth system at Paris St Germain, has played every game since arriving at the Lanarkshire club following his release from Leicester City.

After signing a one-year deal in July, he was then awarded a new contract until at least 2019 after just eight games.

Ahead of today’s trip to Hibernian, where Motherwell look to make it four wins in a row, Kipre spoke of his delight at the backing from the Well fans and manager Stephen Robinson. “It is really good because the fans made me feel very welcome,” he said. “The support they are showing is really good. They always sing me a song and I love it.

“I have been here for a few months and I didn’t expect it (extended deal). I was really surprised but it can only be good for me.

“It gives me a bit of security now. I was already focusing on my football but having one more year is good.

“The manager has shown that he trusts me so I try to give that confidence back on the pitch. That’s all I can do.

He added: “It is different here because I haven’t been playing first team before. The intensity is higher. Playing in the reserves at Leicester wasn’t that good.”
