Pupils at St Mary’s are given a first-class education enhanced by a strong emphasis on drama, music, sport and a range of extracurricular activities.

An independent co-educational prep school for two to 13-year-olds, offering day, weekly and flexi boarding from seven years old, St Mary’s prides itself on having happy children supported by a dedicated team of staff and a close-knit parent community.

The girls’ and boys’ boarding houses provide a high level of pastoral care in a cosy family atmosphere with a different fun activity to do every night. Boarders from further afield make good use of the nearby Borders Railway for an easy journey home at weekends.

Common Entrance in Year 8 is the culmination of pupils’ time at the school, with a number also sitting scholarships. Leavers depart as independent learners with the confidence and knowledge to face the new challenges ahead.
