Woman aged 71 unaccounted for after house fire
A woman is unaccounted for following a serious fire at a house in Inverness.
Police said initial inquiries suggested the 71-yearold who lived there was in the property at the time of the blaze.
Emergency services were called to the scene at a house on Island Bank Road at 1:55am yesterday.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze. However, officers have not been able to enter the building due to “extensive structural damage”. The woman’s next of kin have been told.
Police are carrying out a joint investigation with the fire service.
