-

Police and hospital staff are searching for a missing mother after a newborn baby was found in an east London park.

The boy was found wrapped carefully in a white blanket at around 8:20am yesterday in a park area near Balaam street in Plaistow.

He is being cared for in hospital and has been called Harry by medical staff. Appealing to the child’s mother, DCI Jim Foley said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for your welfare and I would urge you to make contact with us.”
