#BORISJOHNSON

The UK Statistics Authority sent a strongly-worded letter to Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson accusing him of “misusing official statistics” after he restated the claim that Brexit could see the National Health Service benefit from £350 million per week. @ldobsonhughes tweeted: “The British statistics agency is currently providing the best check on Boris Johnson’s leadership bid. Also, never annoy statisticians.” @Ukulelekev shared: “Boris Johnson has angered the king of British facts.” @Technicallyron joked: “Vote Leave: We never said 350 million Farage: We never said 350million Brexiteers: We never said 350 million Boris: Lol we totally did tho.” @vincecable said: “Complete loss of authority for Theresa May. She should fire Boris Johnson on Monday morning or her credibility will be reduced to zero.”

#BLUETIFUL

Crayola named its new crayon Bluetiful, prompting bemusement. @marcyourgoals noted: “Great now kids really won’t be able to spell.” @Jakeareid chortled: “I guess if you are going to commit a spelling crime you may as well do it in crayon.” @heididesch posted: “This is obnoxious. Bluetiful isn’t a word. Bad lesson for children as primary users of crayons.” @sizetoosmall tweeted: “BLUETIFUL. This is why we can’t have nice things.” @Writebenton observed: “No need to besmirch newfangled words – blog or selfie, anyone? Those who rant their discontent with #crayola #bluetiful are laughable.”

#ANGRYBIRDS

Everton have announced Angry Birds as their new sleeve-sponsor. Since rivals Liverpool have a big, red bird as their logo already, there were some mixed reactions and inevitable jokes. @Anfieldthrone noted: “Everton’s sleeve sponsor is a big RED BIRD... you can’t make this stuff up.” @CAL_EFC queried: “Why didn’t you use the bird that splits into three, at least he’s blue!!!” @Georgewoodefc asked: “Ok fair enough then, can he play upfront?” @sunscreemer enthused: “Finally we have signed wingers!” @Toffee_david shared: “Got to say this deal is a bit of a coo.”
