Kyles get their noses in front
With just two matches to go, the Marine Harvest Premiership title race swung in Kyles Athletic’s favour as their 1-0 win over Newtonmore put them above second-placed Kinlochshiel, who drew 2-2 with Glenurquhart, on goal difference, writes Alasdair Bruce.
A Sandy Mackenzie goal on 41 minutes was all that separated Kyles Athletic and Newtonmore at Mossfield. Kinlochshiel went behind against Glens after two James Macpherson goals but Keith Macrae pulled a goal back before Jordan Fraser’s penalty made it 2-2.
Calum Mclay and Jamie Mcfadyen cancelled out strikes from Marc Maclachlan and Danny Kelly as Glasgow Mid Argyll and Lovat clashed at Yoker. However a second from Maclachlan gave Lovat a 3-2 win.
National Division champions Skye beat Inveraray 3-0, while Lochside Rovers beat the Kingussie colts 3-1 to win the Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup.
