Campaign to tackle soaring bike theft

-

Police have launched a new campaign to tackle bike theft in Dundee.

Last year 314 bikes were stolen in the city valued at over £135,000. In almost half of these cases the stolen bike was left completely unsecured by the owner.

Police will be pro-actively carrying out patrols in hot spot areas and challenging any suspicious activity and monitoring online sites where stolen bikes are likely to be sold.

Constable Bob Young from Longhaugh Community Team explained, “We would advise that anyone with a bike get a good quality lock.”
