Partick Thistle Dreams dashed

For a few tantalising moments last night, we dared to hope that, finally, it was our night to turn the tables on Rangers.

Three times in our previous four matches against them, we had held the lead, only to concede late goals and be denied victory. But when Kris Doolan scored our last-gasp equaliser at the end of the 90 minutes, maybe it was our turn – especially as the Jags were dominating the game at that stage. Sadly, it wasn’t to be as it proved in extra time.

A frustrating night, too, for Conor Sammon, who did everything but score. He hasn’t been on the scoresheet for Thistle yet, but put in a great performance and but for several great saves by Jak Alnwick would have broken his duck.
