USP Carbeth hut
The Carbeth huts are part of modern folklore in the West of Scotland. The Stirlingshire huts provided much-needed holiday boltholes for Glasgow shipyard workers wanting to escape from the City.
In their time they have housed evacuees from Second World War bombing of Clydebank and later those wanting to escape the pollution of the city.
There are tales of families carrying building materials on their backs to create their holiday havens on the road north from Glasgow.
While the original huts now host a community of like-minded people, today’s take on the holiday huts is available on Drymen Road in Carbeth, in picturesque scenery just off the West Highland Way. The site, close to the Carbeth Inn, has been the subject of considerable investment by its present owners.
A great deal of new landscaping is now in place, along with refurbishment of the existing huts on the site.
Featuring a mix of new and fully refurbished buildings, the Drymen Road huts are only a ten minute drive from Milngavie. Updating the holiday hut model for the 21st century, they feature all mod cons, and are available in a choice of two or three bedrooms.
Each hut, situated on its own plot of ground, has a spacious kitchen/diner, lounge and modern bathroom. They are priced from £50,000 to £99,000.
