Experiments boost science scores
Performing science experiments is important to help children do well in the subject later on, research by scientists at Oxford University suggests.
There is evidence that being able to “reason scientifically” – testing out theories through experiments and trials – is a strong indication of how well children will do in the sciences. The paper found that good lessons involve teachers helping youngsters to improve their scientific reasoning by setting questions that encouraging them to design fair trials to test out their theories.
