This sporting life

I still lament the loss of the Scotsman’s Sports Letters section, particularly in these days with tribal politics correspondence dominating the Letters Page. Its return would provide a little light relief.

I felt sorry for Richard Cockerill protecting his players by taking the blame for their classic inept performance last Friday (Sport, 20 September). A vintage Alex Ferguson ploy.

Might I suggest Edinburgh Rugby seek sponsorship from the likes of Tresseme, L’oreal or Garnier, so there are at least some “highlights” on the pitch.
