Dods alerted to danger as Ryan sits on Pars’ bench

- By CRAIG P STEWART

Brechin City manager Darren Dods reckons that the depth of table-topping Dunfermline’s attacking threat is summed up by the fact that Andy Ryan can only get on the bench for the Fifers.

The Pars head to Glebe Park with Dods knowing that only a perfect defensive display will give his side any chance of keeping Allan Johnston’s side out. He said: “Andy was the best striker we came across in League 1 last season when he was with Airdrie. He has moved on to Dunfermline and the fact that he is not starting regularly tells you how good their other strikers are.”

“We have to find a way to try to contain them.”

Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston said: “We have to show the right attitude as Brechin are a difficult proposition, especially at home.” Morton manager Jim Duffy is not getting over-excited about his side being ahead of hosts Dundee United in the table. He said: “They are still the favourites for promotion and rightly so as they have the strongest squad.”

Falkirk will hope to defeat visitors Livingston and secure their first Championship win.

Manager Peter Houston, pictured, said: “We have tightened up in recent games and that has given us a base to move forward.” Dumbarton manager Stephen Aitken is looking for his side to come out on top when the Sons host Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the first ever league meeting between the clubs.

Aitken said: “It is a bit of history and hopefully we can mark it with a win that would keep us above them in the table.”

St Mirren have eased their defensive crisis ahead of facing Queen of the South tomorrow by signing Celtic defender Chris Mccart on loan.

Paisley assistant manager James Fowler said: “Due to injuries and suspensions we were light defensively. We will need Chris as Queen of the South have plenty of firepower.”
