Losing knights get their joust desserts in sport’s first world championships
Britain’s Dominic Sewell (left) and Per Estein Prois-rohjell of Norway compete in the inaugural World Jousting Championship at the St Ives Medieval Faire in Sydney.
Jousters from around the globe were competing in the contest, fighting for the Sword of Valour. Competitors have registered from as far away as France, Canada, Sweden and Norway.
As well as the jousting contest, the faire featured a living medieval village complete with 340 historic actors, a giant medieval catapult, birds of prey, a Viking battle and a traditional archery demonstration.
