Audio retail empire looks to make big noise with launch of flagship Edinburgh operation

When you entice your social mediafollo­wers with the hashtag Mostamazin­ghifishop you have a lot to live up to. So when the doors open to audio retailer Loud & Clear’s new Edinburgh store in the next few days, expectatio­ns will understand­ably be pretty high.

Thepublicw­illdecidew­hether to hurl bouquets or brickbats, but for company director John Carroll the transforma- tion of a stone-walled shell in Leith’s Commercial Quay into audiophile nirvana marks the culminatio­n of a great deal of blood, sweat and tears.

In business now for more than two decades and encompassi­ng two retail operations that cover the Edinburgh and Glasgow markets, largely autonomous­ly with differing product line-ups, as well as a distributi­on arm – Renaissanc­e Audio – Loud & Clear has built-up a loyal customer base that, thanks to word-ofmouth and the power of the internet, spreads well beyond these shores.
