STIRLING COUNTY 36 BOROUGHMUIR 14

-

County coach Graeme Young is excited at the prospect of travelling to Ayr on Saturday after watching his side humble Boroughmuir, writes Martin Laing.

“Five points, job done, which is what we wanted, so I’m happy,” said the New Zealander. “The pleasing thing was our finishing towards the end of the second half. Once the gaps started appearing, we looked really good.

“We’ re building towards a big game next week in Ayr which will be a real litmus test for us.”

Stirling should be in good fettle for that encounter. They secured the bonus-point win with some comfort, thanks to tries from Ruairidh Swan, Reyner Kennedy, Adam Nicol, Calum Hunter-hill and Lewis Wynne, four of them converted by skipper Jonny Hope, who also nudged over a penalty. In reply, Boroughmuir managed a touchdown in each half, courtesy of Dan Winning and Jordan Edmunds, the first goalled by Chris Laidlaw and the other by Ciaran Whyte.

Boroughmuir head coach Peter Wright said: “We were poor but County were really good with a simple game plan that they executed extremely well.”
