Drunk driver crashes after course

-

A drink driver smashed headon into another car despite having been on a course to learn about the damage and injuries drunk motorists cause.

Rachael Millar, 29, of Braid Green, Livingston, was more than two and a half times the legal limit when she drifted across the centre line and collided with a car coming the other way, a court heard.

Sheriff John Macritchie blasted Millar for getting back behind the wheel while drunk after being shown examples of the devastation caused by motorists under the influence of alcohol.

Fining Millar £810 and banning her from driving for three years he told her: “I attended part of that drink drive rehabilitation course voluntarily and I still have in my mind the images of the victims of drink drivers.

“I can’t contemplate anyone having gone through that and getting in a vehicle and drink driving.”

Livingston Sheriff Court was told that the incident happened on 4 November, 2016.
