Hot springs eternal: Artist takes inspiration from earth’s energy

New York artist Ilana Halperin is staging her exhibition Geologic Intimacy (Yu No Hana) at the Patricia Fleming Projectsartgalleryinglasgow.

The works on show were inspired by a visit to the Japanese city of Beppu, one of the earth’s most geothermally active sites. There she saw “children cooking eggs on the streets, steam coming through every crack in the pavement and a pool as red as blood”.
