While I agree with the importance of looking to the future, as in your Vision Scotland supplement, it is also important not to mis-represent Scotland’s past.

To this effect it should be noted that when Robert William Thomson was born, Stonehaven was in Kincardine­shire. The town only became part of the redefined Aberdeensh­ire within the local government reforms that eradicated many former counties from the traditiona­l map of Scotland.
