Code of chaos

- CLARE CHALMERS Braidwood Bridge, Midlothian,

The Scottish Government has been attempting to push through the Named Person scheme for years.

In spite of massive expense, a damning Supreme Court adjudication and over 37,000 objections from concerned parents and voters, Mr Swinney still seems to be missing the point completely.

We have now reached the point where the revised bill is being referred to as ‘toxic’ by social workers, ‘unworkable’ by teachers and apparently requiring lawyers to be on speed dial for practition-

ers by the Faculty of Scottish Lawyers.

The code of practice must be thrashed out and agreed upon first, to ensure it passes muster with all who must use it, then presented alongside the revised bill to be brought to Holyrood, in order for MSPS to know exactly what they are voting for.

The Scottish Government must not be allowed to rubber stamp a ‘bad bill’ to be followed with a code of chaos.
