Celtic Lennon’s huge welcome

- Paul John Dykes

Only those among the home support with acute amnesia would have failed to welcome Neil Lennon to Celtic Park on Saturday. The thunderous applause which met his emergence brought a smile from ear to ear on his face. The Hibernian boss’s cavalcade was briefly halted by a Brendan Rodgers embrace, as Celtic’s past momentarily rubbed shoulders with its future.

Rodgers’ side only managed a share of the spoils after Callum Mcgregor produced a twogoal riposte to Gordon Strachan’s dilly-dallying over his international inclusion.

Celtic were an egregious refereeing decision away from ruining Lennon’s homecoming, but this result should act as a canary in the coal mine for Rodgers’ side, as they continue their defence of their invincible treble.
