Dundee Tall story

- Gary Cocker

They often say that somebody’s greatest strength is also their greatest weakness. Neil Mccann has figured out that the opposite can also be true.

Our inability to defend set-pieces has been a hallmark of our team, but by incorporating three tall centre-backs into our team and some hard work on the training ground, we’ve become pretty adept at converting our own set pieces. Saturday’s game against Hearts was a case in point, as the up- and-coming Kerr Waddell took advantage of lax marking to power in two corners to secure victory. This tactical flexibility also gets the most juice from Kerr and Holt’s game, as they’re pushed further forward as wing-backs, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s used more often in the future.
