Nuisance calls

-

My day wouldn’t be the same without a nuisance call, even when registered with Telephone Preference Service.

On reading that a marketing firm got a £260,000 fine for making 16 million automated calls about boiler grants, it seems Information Commissioner’s Office is on the job, as some time earlier it was reported that the ICO fined a company behind 100 million nuisance calls £400,000.

However, do taxpayers see the money, for not long ago a company reported to have received a heavy fine for unwanted calls was also reported to have gone into liquidation, and so what happened to the fine?

A press investigation into how worthwhile it is for companies to market in this way might be revealing.

Then again, we have those daft television commercials with Arnold Schwarzenegger about the mis-selling of payments protection claims, presumably paid for from the public purse!
