Falkirk Bairns’ great ‘grandad’

-

It’s a well known fact ‘you can’t teach your granny how to sook eggs’, however in Falkirk’s case it’s ‘your grandad’!

Alex Smith stood in as caretaker manager for Falkirk while the club looked for Peter Houston’s successor. At 77 years of age, Smith was the oldest manager in Europe at the weekend and his return to management helped the Bairns win their first three points of this year’s league campaign away to Morton. This excellent result ended a run of seven league games without a win and came at the right time before this Saturday’s derby against Dunfermline.

Without question, Falkirk have a good enough squad to compete at the top end of this league, and Smith proved that on Saturday.
