The Edinburgh arm of a global mobile gaming giant is celebrating after bagging a permanent base for its 21 new staff.

Skymoons Edinburgh has put down roots at tech hub Codebase, and yesterday welcomed minister counsellor of the economic and commercial office of the Chinese Embassy Jin Xu to mark the occasion.

Earlier this year Skymoons Digital Entertainment announced it was to be China’s first games investor in Scotland, choosing Edinburgh and deeming it “the perfect location for expanding its business to the global digital entertainment market”.

Michael Boniface, director of Skymoons Edinburgh, said it is an “exciting time” for the organisation, “with a full team now in place and our successful relocation to a larger studio complete”.

“Edinburgh has proven the ideal location for Skymoons’ investment in Europe with its enviable rich talent pool of tech graduates,” he said.

“I have every confidence the company will continue to grow and develop and I hope to announce even more jobs in the future.”

Xu’s visit came as part of his trip to Edinburgh for the World Alliance for Low Carbon Cities Forum, learning about Scotland’s games industry while receiving a tour of Codebase.

The China-britain Business Council’s Scotland director James Brodie said: “This is an important moment for Scotland’s tech industry.”

He added: “Skymoons’ decision to set up in Edinburgh shows how competitive Scotland can be at the cutting edge of global innovation.”
