Arms and man
My understanding is that the much-defended “right of Americans to bear arms” as set out in their constitution is linked to the need for its original citizens to serve in regimented militia in the defence of that country. The country’s founding fathers chose their words with care. They would be appalled to learn their words would later be used as justification for the possession of an arsenal by one individual, be it automatic weapons or in their day, flintlocks rifles!
